Travel with me to Whistler - Part II

Hello again!  In the last article, I talked about where to stay in Whistler.  If you have already locked in your accommodation, now it's time to PLAY!

My husband and I spend most winters here, so it has literally become our second home.  If you are visiting Whistler in winter, you must take a few ski lessons.

If you are a complete beginner (I only started skiing in 2012), Ski School is your best bet.  There are group/ private lessons as well as weekend Women's camp.  I did North Face Women's ski camp in December, it was 2 days skiing with cool women of similar level, we also sat together for aprés ski - the drinks that you really need after a long fun day in the mountain!

For non-skiers, going to Whistler in winter is also the perfect timing for complete indulgence.  Book a day in Scandinavia Spa which is less than 10 minutes taxi/ drive from main village, some of their masseurs are qualified for MRT.  The Swedish massage that I had was more than enough to remove all the tension in my muscles, the rest of the day was spent sitting in the outdoor hotspring and steam room.

What shall we do after massage?  Shopping!  Based on the current exchange rate, shopping in Canada about 20% cheaper, so I went to load up on Lululemon for workout gear, CAN-SKIi for resort casual style, The Hat Gallery for their fabulous collection of hats and gloves and not to mention Snowflake Canada for elegant long jackets and boots.

Other shops that I frequent in are,

Whistler Kitchen Works - Cooking utensils and home accessories.  Address: 4350 Lorimer Rd #116, Whistler, BC V0N 1B4

The Oracle - Spiritual beads, clothing, tarot reading.  Address: 121-4338 Main Street, Whistler BC, Canada V0N 1B4

3 Singing Birds - cool local designer clothing, jewellery and home accessories.  Address: 122-4340 Larimer Road, Whistler BC, Canada, V0N 1B4 (near Market Place)

Aside from shopping, you can also try indoor rock climbing at The Core; take a stroll around the beautiful Lost Lake, especially in springtime; skating at the Olympic Square.  There are also Ziptrek, bobsled and tube park if you are in for a different adventure, all bookings can be done thought Whistler Blackcomb.

My personal itinerary is to get up early to go to the gym at the Fairmont and then ski lesson for a day, aprés ski at Merlins or GLC and dinner at fabulous restaurants.  Off days would be shopping, jacuzzi, massage and just at Millard Lounge for jazz and a glass of merlot.
